These foam sleeping bags are some of the best in existence. One of the big killers is moisture. These custom made bags pull the moisture from the bag so that you and your sleeping bag stay warm and dry in freezing conditions. Investing in one of these foam bags will be well worth the money!

Rapture
This is a completely customized bag built just for you. It uses a specialized open cell polyurethane foam and micro fiber polyester taffeta as a cover fabric, that is very water resistant, yet allows the moisture vapor that you produce to leave. It is also VERY breathable. We've had people who suffer from claustrophobia shut themselves completely up in these bags, and all of them have found that they can breathe sufficiently not to panic. And on top of that, they are the most comfortable bag you can buy. All Raptors come standard with MHP/DIC/Pillow.

What makes these bags so much better than others?
  • There are several popular materials that are used in the construction of cold weather gear. One of them is the insulation.
  • Hollofil, Quallofil, Lamilite, etc, and down. The idea behind these materials, or any insulation material is to maintain a dead air space between you and the undesirable temperatures. And generally these materials work fairly well for the short term in sub-freezing temperatures.
  • Synthetic fibers and down do a good job of maintaining that air space that you need, but over time they collect moisture that is expelled by your body. The effect is most noticeable in sub-freezing temperatures after around day 3 of consistent use without an opportunity to thaw and dry the gear. What happens is that moisture is trapped inside the fibers and then it freezes. Eventually the insulation of your gear becomes worthless due to the amount of ice and moisture it contains.
  • There are products that you can use inside a sleeping bag that will stop that moisture before it gets to your insulation, but that generally means that you are wet and clammy when you wake up in the morning!
  • A vital key to staying warm in cold weather is to stay DRY. You can't do this with gear that does not handle the moisture well. In fact, if you are out long enough it could actually kill you.
  • Our gear will keep you dry and warm whether it's one day or months on end; it's simply the best gear your can buy.
Temperature Ratings:
  • When I wear nothing but my underwear I'm good down to ~22°F.
  • When I wear my cotton street clothes in my bag, I'm good down to ~28°F.
  • When I wear synthetic street clothes, I'm good down to ~18°F.
  • When I wear my 1/2" foam clothing, I'm good down to at least -12°F.
We don't know about below that, because that is as low as we have gone, so far. However, at that -12° we slept very well.
Another often overlooked factor of warmth is proper hydration. If you are mildly dehydrated you will not be burning as well as you would be if you were proper hydrated, therefore you will require more insulation to stay warm.
These bags aren't rated because we consider bag ratings deceptive; they try to lump people into one range by not asking enough questions about how a person sleeps at night. And if you want us to offer a rating for these  bags, which one of the above would you like me to use? :)
What we CAN tell you about these bags is that they are part of a cold weather system designed for extended stays out in hostile conditions. And what we can also tell you is at what temperatures they have kept us warm based on what we are wearing and how well hydrated we are.

Note, all people sleep comfortably at different temperatures. The above information is just a basic guide.

*May take a couple weeks to ship due to the custom nature of the bags.
